Eddie Howe: 'Aston Villa quality eventually showed in FA Cup defeat'

Bournemouth coach Eddie Howe says that Aston Villa's quality finally showed as his side lost out to the Premier League club in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Bournemouth coach Eddie Howe has talked up the quality of Aston Villa's finishing after Paul Lambert's side knocked the Championship leaders out of the FA Cup.

Howe's men gave a good account of themselves away at Villa Park, but they eventually lost out to goals from Carles Gil and Andreas Weimann, despite a late consolation from Callum Wilson in the fourth round.

"We felt we were well in the game and we created the better opportunities," said Howe, according to Sky Sports News.

"We had a good defensive structure and limited their chances and it took a moment of quality to break the deadlock and give Villa a lift.

"We'll use this experience today as a positive. We went toe-to-toe with a Premier League club at their own ground. We did it pretty well but you could see the difference in quality with their goals and that is what we aspire to."

Villa will find out their fifth-round fate on Monday when the next FA Cup draw is made.
