Theo Walcott wants striker's role

Arsenal's Theo Walcott suggests that his future at the club depends upon him being used more frequently as a centre-forward.

England international Theo Walcott has hinted that his Arsenal future hinges on whether or not he will be employed as a centre-forward on a regular basis.

The 23-year-old has been used primarily as a winger ever since he joined the Gunners from Southampton back in 2006.

However, Walcott has revealed that he views himself as a central striker.

With his contract due to expire next summer, Walcott has suggested that he may extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium as soon as he receives assurances over his position on the pitch.

"[The] main factor for me is I want to start playing up front now. It's the main one for me," he told Sky Sports News. "I remember when Thierry (Henry) joined at 22, the legend he was.

"Hopefully I can be the legend was as well, in that up front position."

Walcott has made three appearances in the Premier League for Arsenal this season.
