Dennis Tueart: 'Carlos Tevez needs to go for Robin van Persie'

Former Manchester City director Dennis Tueart says that Carlos Tevez is likely to make way if Robin van Persie is brought into the club.

Former Manchester City director Dennis Tueart believes that the Premier League champions will have to sell Carlos Tevez in order to bring Arsenal striker Robin van Persie into the side.

The North West outfit have been constantly linked with a move for the Gunners frontman, who recently claimed that he has no intentions of prolonging his contract with the London side.

"From my observations of City, they need to buy two players who complement the team ethic and will give the team balance and shape, rather than just individuals, and that is always the biggest challenge," Tueart told ESPN.

"I felt that City's big problem was that last season they didn't have two strikers who could be a pairing. Instead, they were all single frontmen.

"Aguero was a fantastic acquisition, one of the best players in the Premier League, and if you do bring in Van Persie, then for me Tevez would be the one to go and because of his personality, you might always end up with trouble with him."

Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Thierry Henry believes that the Dutchman should stay at the Emirates.
