Roma are reportedly preparing to reignite their pursuit of Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka.
Jose Mourinho is thought to be a keen admirer of the Switzerland captain and tried to lure him away from the Emirates Stadium in the most recent summer and winter windows to no avail.
Xhaka signed an extension with Arsenal until 2024 just last year, but he is still not entirely popular with the Gunners fanbase and continues to be linked with a move elsewhere.
According to football.london, Roma will try again for Xhaka's signature ahead of the 2022-23 season, despite the 29-year-old establishing himself as a regular starter under Mikel Arteta.
The report adds that Xhaka would be open to the switch and would relish the opportunity to work under Mourinho's wing, but Roma are yet to reignite contact with the midfielder's entourage.
Xhaka has registered one assist in 13 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions this season but has been sent off twice - once in the Premier League against Manchester City before taking the walk of shame against Liverpool in the EFL Cup.
The former Borussia Monchengladbach man will return from his ban for the latter red card in time for Thursday's Premier League showdown with European rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers.
