Arsenal to miss out on Newcastle's Cabaye as PSG step in?

Paris Saint-Germain are ready to bid £17m for Newcastle United midfielder and Arsenal target Yohan Cabaye, according to reports.

Arsenal are close to losing out on another transfer target, as Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye is being lined up for a move to French champions Paris Saint-Germain, according to reports.

Arsene Wenger previously rattled Magpies boss Alan Pardew with an "unacceptable" bid for the France international on the eve of Newcastle's Premier League opener against Manchester City.

Pardew revealed on Thursday that an improved offer was yet to be submitted, and the Metro now reports that PSG are willing to stump up £17m to tempt Mike Ashley to part with the 27-year-old.

Arsenal's sole summer signing so far has been the arrival of Yaya Sanogo on a free transfer from Auxerre.
