Liverpool reportedly reject an improved bid of £40m from Arsenal for striker Luis Suarez.

Liverpool have reportedly rejected a bid of £40m from Arsenal for striker Luis Suarez.

The Gunners made an improved offer, which is believed to be £40,000,001, to trigger the Uruguayan international's release clause after their initial bid of a reported £35m was turned down by the Reds.

However, Brendan Rodgers's side have rejected this new offer as they maintain their stance that the 26-year-old is not for sale, reports BBC Sport.

Suarez admitted that at the start of the summer transfer window that he wants to leave club, but so far both of the Gunners' bids have fallen short of the Merseysiders' valuation.

The Uruguayan scored 30 goals in all competitions for Liverpool last season, but his campaign ended on a sour note as he was banned for 10 matches for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
