Jack Wilshere: 'I am happy at Arsenal'

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere confirms that he wants to stay at the club and insists that his sole focus is on getting back into the team for club and country.

Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has insisted that he is happy at the club despite his lack of game time in the Premier League so far this season.

Wilshere has been forced to settle for appearances in the Europa League and EFL Cup so far this term. having not made a start in the league and only being handed 25 minutes of top-flight action off the bench.

The 25-year-old - who spent last season on loan at Bournemouth - was left out of the latest England squad as a result of his lack of playing time, but he insists that his sole focus is on working his way back into the fold for both club and country.

"I want to be playing for my country. I am a proud Englishman. But it is down to the manager. He didn't select me. He said I need more football," he told Sky Sports News.

"That is what I have got to do. I have got to take it on board, try to get into the Arsenal first team and hopefully I'll be selected. I have just come back to full fitness. I am happy with where I am, playing-wise. I am trying to get into the Premier League team.

"At the moment I am concentrating on the now. The future will take care of itself. All I have got to do is stay fit and play my football. I want to stay at this club, I have said that many times. I've got a great relationship with Arsene Wenger and he's assured me that I will get some playing time."

Wilshere has made only one Premier League start for Arsenal since May 2015.
