David Dein expects Arsenal to spend big in summer

Former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein is adamant that Arsene Wenger will dip into the transfer market this summer.

Former Arsenal vice-chairman David Dein is confident that manager Arsene Wenger will be prominent in this summer's transfer window.

The Gunners have often been criticised for their lack of spending in previous windows, but Dein believes that the North London outfit must sign new players in order to compete with the likes of Manchester United.

"Clearly they have fallen 20 odd points behind Manchester United which is not good enough and it speaks for itself that he has to strengthen the team and I know he will do that," Dein told BBC Radio Five Live.

Arsenal are currently two points adrift of fourth place in the Premier League table.
