David Luiz's recent performances for Arsenal could reportedly change the club's transfer plans.

David Luiz's recent performances for Arsenal could have reportedly changed the club's transfer plans.

The Gunners were expected to sign at least one new centre-back in the upcoming transfer window, with Luiz, Sead Kolasinac and Shkodran Mustafi all having their problems this season.

Luiz was sent off against Manchester City in the team's first game after the lockdown period but his form has been impressive in recent weeks, putting in another strong display against Man City in the FA Cup on Saturday.

According to the Daily Star, the Brazilian's turnaround in form could have convinced head coach Mikel Arteta that he does not need to bring in another central defender ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

Kieran Tierney has also impressed when used in the centre of the defence, while William Saliba will be another option next season, having officially arrived after a loan spell at Saint-Etienne.

Luiz only recently signed an extension at the Emirates Stadium, and the 33-year-old now has a contract with the Gunners until the end of next season.
