Manchester City centre-back John Stones emerges as a summer transfer target for Chelsea, according to a report.

Chelsea are reportedly considering a summer approach for Manchester City centre-back John Stones.

The 26-year-old has only made 16 Premier League appearances for Pep Guardiola's side this season, having fallen down the pecking order at the club.

Stones is in the final two years of his contract at the Etihad Stadium, meanwhile, and there have been suggestions that he could leave the Citizens in search of pastures new.

According to Football Insider, Chelsea have identified the former Barnsley youngster as a potential signing during this summer's transfer window.

The report claims that Frank Lampard's side have internally discussed the possibility of signing Stones as they look to bring a new central defender to Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2020-21 campaign.

Arsenal and Newcastle United have also been mentioned as potential suitors for a player who has won two Premier League titles, two EFL Cups and one FA Cup during his time in Manchester.
