Nicklas Bendtner's move to Crystal Palace called off?

Arsenal decide to keep Nicklas Bendtner as emergency cover and rule out a deadline-day switch to Crystal Palace, according to reports.

Arsenal have reportedly pulled the plug on Nicklas Bendtner's potential deadline-day switch to Crystal Palace.

Bendtner held talks with the Eagles and carried out a medical at Palace this afternoon, but co-chairman Steve Parish admitted this evening that a deal was dependent on Arsenal's efforts to sign a new forward.

The Gunners attempted to land Chelsea forward Demba Ba on a season-long loan deal today, but talks have broken down over that move, meaning Bendtner will stay at the Emirates as cover for Olivier Giroud, according to BBC Sport.

The Danish international has spent much of this summer attempting to find a new club, with Palace joining Hull City, Malaga, Eintracht Frankfurt and Hamburg in considering a swoop for the 25-year-old.

Palace now have less than two hours to search for a replacement in their efforts to strengthen before the transfer window slams shut.
