Arsenal reportedly intend to finalise the permanent transfer of Flamengo defender Pablo Mari in the coming months, despite his current lack of game time.

Arsenal have reportedly already informed Flamengo that they intend to sign Pablo Mari on a permanent deal later this year.

Despite moving to the Emirates Stadium on loan during the January transfer window, Mari is yet to make a first-team appearance for the Gunners.

As a result of Arsenal's exit from the Europa League, the Spaniard will now get fewer opportunities, something which could potentially lead to the Premier League outfit having second thoughts over pushing through a permanent transfer.

However, Coluna Dofla claims that discussions have already taken place regarding the formalities of a €16m (£13.68m) deal being made official at the end of the campaign.

Mari's lack of game time has been largely due to fitness, with the 26-year-old having been due to start pre-season with Flamengo before his switch to North London.

The recent arrival will hope to feature when Arsenal face Portsmouth in the FA Cup fifth round next week.
