Arsenal reportedly tried to scupper West Ham United's deal for Andy Carroll by attempting to lure him to the Emirates in a last-ditch attempt.
The 24-year-old signed a six-year contract with the Hammers yesterday for a reported £15m deal from Liverpool.
It is believed that the Gunners made an enquiry into how much it would cost to land the striker, but decided to end their pursuit after hearing of Carroll's £100,000-a-week package being offered by West Ham, according to the Daily Star.
Carroll made a permanent move to the Boleyn Ground following a season-long loan during the 2012-13 campaign.
