Arsenal reportedly activate Marouane Fellaini's release clause with a £22m bid.

Arsenal have reportedly submitted a sensational £22m bid for Everton star Marouane Fellaini.

The Gunners have activated a release clause in the Belgium international's contract and are confident of completing the deal in the coming weeks, according to Goal.com.

Fellaini has been linked with big-money moves to Manchester United and Chelsea in recent weeks, but Arsenal are said to be the first club to table an offer.

The midfielder is understood to have a £22m release clause in his contract for a top-four club, with that figure rising to £24m for a team that finished outside of the Champions League places.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is believed to have made the offer for Fellaini on the same day that Everton named Roberto Martinez as its new manager.
