Ray Parlour: 'Arsenal could be relegated'

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour admits that the Gunners could face the prospect of relegation if their results do not improve in the coming weeks.

Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has warned the Gunners that relegation is a real possibility unless they can turn their fortunes around.

Mikel Arteta has overseen Arsenal's worst start to a league campaign for 46 years, with the Gunners' winless run in the league stretching to six matches following a 1-1 draw with Southampton at the Emirates.

Arsenal are only five points clear of the drop zone after 13 matches, and Parlour believes that Arteta's side could very well be playing Championship football next year if results do not improve.

Speaking to Off The Ball, Parlour said: "Someone asked me the question the other day, can they get relegated?

"I said, 'well, probably not,' but then you look at Leicester winning the league at 5,000-1 and they won it - so they can get relegated.

"If they don't start picking up points and turning it around then there's a real problem there."

Arsenal next face a trip to Goodison Park to take on Everton before Tuesday's EFL Cup quarter-final with Manchester City and Boxing Day's crunch match against Chelsea in the Premier League.
