Ian Wright says that Arsenal should steer clear of appointing the likes of Carlo Ancelotti as manager.

Ian Wright has said that Arsenal should steer clear of appointing the likes of Carlo Ancelotti as manager, adding that the Gunners need someone younger and fresher to replace Arsene Wenger.

Wenger's future in North London is again under fire after the team, who are well off a top-four place in the Premier League, lost 3-0 to Manchester City in the EFL Cup final.

Wright told BBC Radio 5 live that an appointment similar to Mauricio Pochettino at Tottenham would be the best option for Arsenal.

"The club need to start looking for somebody who is not old," the former Gunners striker said. "They are talking about Ancelotti, but they need to find the next one like Pochettino, who built his way up.

"Marco Silva stepped on his own ambition. Somebody like that is good and can build, have a philosophy and be enthused with drive; someone who can bring in a player that can see his philosophy through, like we are seeing at Manchester City.

"This needs a lot of thought and working out. I am not sure we can go through too many more years of what is going on."

Wenger was appointed as Arsenal boss in 1996, and has won three Premier League titles with the club.
