Arsene Wenger: "Quality football" will bring Arsenal fans back

Arsene Wenger is unsure why supporters decided to stay away from the Emirates Stadium on Thursday night, but calls for fans to unite and return for the final two games.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has claimed that the high quality of football on offer at the Emirates Stadium will be enough to bring back disinterested supporters.

Despite an official attendance of 59,563 being given - just short of full capacity - large sections of the ground were left empty on Thursday evening as the Gunners picked up a 2-0 win over West Bromwich Albion.

Wenger admits that he is unsure why fans decided to remain away, days after seeing his side held to another disappointing draw against Crystal Palace, and has now called for them to return for the final two home games of the season.

Asked for a message to supporters, the Frenchman is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "Come and support the team. If you love football, you go out there and I think you see quality football.

"It was a special night as well, a Thursday night, and I don't know if you are intelligent enough, nor am I, to detect exactly why everybody that did not turn up tonight did not turn up.

"I believe we dominated from the start to the last minute and in fact, was what we did in the 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace on Sunday. Overall I believe the quality of our game was very good. Maybe, we could have scored more goals."

Arsenal, who are 10 points off the summit in the Premier League, face Norwich City and Aston Villa in their final two home games of the campaign.
