Arsene Wenger: 'Jose Mourinho is scared to fail'

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes that Jose Mourinho's insistence that Chelsea aren't favourites for the Premier League title is down to fear of failure.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes that the Premier League title is Chelsea's to lose after they moved to the top of the table.

Wenger was responding to comments made by Mourinho that implied that Arsenal could have no excuses if they failed to top the standings in May, and while the long-serving boss agreed with his rival, he believes that the Portuguese manager's stance stems from fear of failure.

The Frenchman told reporters: "It is fear to fail. It is very open, and only Chelsea can lose it because they are in front and all the other teams can win it.

"If you're not in the race you cannot lose it. If you declare yourself not in the race you cannot lose it, simple as that.

"I think just that our job is to be ambitious and to try to win. If we do not win, we should to take full responsibility for that."

Chelsea are currently one point ahead of Arsenal in the league table.
