Arsenal boss Unai Emery: 'We will improve'

Arsenal boss Unai Emery insists that his team will improve as the season develops following their opening-weekend loss to Manchester City.

Arsenal boss Unai Emery has insisted that his team will improve as the season develops.

Emery replaced Arsene Wenger as head coach of the Gunners at the end of the 2017-18 campaign, and his reign started with a 2-0 home defeat to Manchester City on the opening weekend.

Arsenal now face a tough trip to Chelsea on Saturday afternoon, but Emery is confident that his side will get better in the coming weeks, although the Spaniard has also been keen to call for patience.

"The difficulty on the pitch was big," Emery told reporters. "The result was very important but also the way, we can do one way, each training improving. I believe in our team, our players. We can improve and we need to improve in the difficult games.

"Our demands are very high. I want this high demand. We need to work hard and together. We need to suffer together also the losses.

"We have one plan, one process. The process is in the way by one time you don't have how many can arrive. It can arrive in one match. You need more time for completely look how you want."

Arsenal's next home match is against West Ham United on August 25, before visiting newly-promoted Cardiff City ahead of the September international break.
