Arsenal manager Unai Emery insists that he has full faith in striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, despite a goalless start to the new season.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery has backed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang to rediscover his best form after a goalless start to the new season.

Aubameyang shone in a struggling Arsenal team during the second half of the 2017-18 campaign, scoring 10 goals in 13 league games for the club following his January move from Borussia Dortmund.

However, the Gabon international is yet to get off the mark in the new campaign and missed a glorious chance to open his account during last weekend's 3-2 defeat to Chelsea.

"Aubameyang needs to find the confidence, then to score and score another. The strikers, they need, I know a lot of strikers in my career and it's about the moment, they need (to be in) the moment, and he's the same," Emery told reporters.

"But I'm sure now that Aubameyang, [Alexandre] Lacazette, Danny Welbeck, they will score more goals in here, for us, in Arsenal. Last year, Aubameyang scored goals here and for that I spoke with him more times and I have given him my confidence with his work.

"He is going to find goals. The first six months for him here is good and he was doing goals last year and for that I am sure he is going to do the same this time."

Arsenal are back in action at home to West Ham United on Saturday afternoon, when they will be looking for their first points of the new campaign.
