Barcelona midfielder Alex Song tells the club's official magazine that he moved to Spain to fulfill a burning ambition to win trophies.

Barcelona midfielder Alex Song has revealed that he made the move to Spain this summer because he thinks that the Catalan giants are on "another level".

Song ended a seven-year association with Arsenal to sign for Barca during the close season.

The 25-year-old has insisted that he is driven by an ambition to help Barcelona win back their La Liga crown from bitter rivals Real Madrid.

He told the club's official magazine: "I have come to Barca to win.

"It is a team that despite having won everything is still hungry for titles. That's why I signed. Because I always want to win and this team is on another level.

"I know the best are at Barca and I'm happy to be here because of that. I'll work hard to get to play as many games as possible."

Song has played in a largely unfamiliar centre-back role under Tito Vilanova due to injury problems with regular defensive duo Carles Puyol and Gerard Pique.
