Per Mertesacker: 'Arsenal benefiting from Petr Cech presence'

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker says that the Gunners are already benefiting from having Petr Cech at the club.

Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has claimed that the Gunners are already feeling the benefits of having Petr Cech at the club.

The Czech goalkeeper signed for the North Londoners from Chelsea last month for £11m.

Mertesacker has said that he is already noticing the difference between Cech and the likes of Wojciech Szczesny and David Ospina, who have previously been first-choice at the Emirates Stadium.

"From day one on, you felt his presence," Mertesacker told the London Evening Standard.

"He communicates well on and off pitch."

Cech spent 11 years at Chelsea before joining Arsenal.
