Lothar Matthaus tips Jose Mourinho to succeed Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich

Lothar Matthaus believes that Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho should be at the top of Bayern Munich's wishlist if Pep Guardiola leaves.

Lothar Matthaus believes that Bayern Munich should target Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho when the day comes for Pep Guardiola to leave.

Doubts over the Spaniard's future at the Allianz Arena have risen as his contract expires at the end of next season.

Arsenal have been touted as a possible destination for Guardiola, with Arsene Wenger's long-term future also uncertain.

"There are only two coaches abroad who fit Bayern's profile - Jose Mourinho and Carlo Ancelotti," Matthaus told Bild. "These two should be right at the top of Bayern's shortlist if they are available in the summer of 2016."

Guardiola joined Bayern in 2013.
