Roberto Martinez: 'Old Trafford win was great, but Arsenal is the acid test'

Everton boss Roberto Martinez says that victory over Arsenal on Sunday would better signify his team's potential than the win away to Manchester United.

Everton boss Roberto Martinez believes that victory over Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium would be a better barometer of his team's potential than the win away to Manchester United on Wednesday.

The Toffees travel to the English capital on Sunday fresh from a 0-1 success over the reigning Premier League champions at Old Trafford during the week.

Nevertheless, Martinez - who has also masterminded a win over Chelsea this season - says that the clash with league leaders Arsenal represents his team's biggest test of the campaign thus far.

Speaking to reporters, the Spaniard said: "The Emirates Stadium is one of the hardest places to go and be yourself. Arsenal as an attacking team are as good as it gets and their movement and forward play requires maximum concentration in everything you do.

"We are looking at ourselves to try to use this as a terrific test to see how quickly we can improve and challenge these sides.

"From our point of view, we are ready for that test. We are excited about challenging the best team in the league so far."

The Gunners could extend their lead over David Moyes's United to 15 points with a win over Martinez's men, after the Red Devils slumped to a 0-1 defeat to Newcastle United this afternoon.

Tomorrow's clash in London is scheduled to kick off at 4pm.
