Mark Hughes "pleased" with Arsenal draw

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes says that he is "pleased" with his side's performance in the goalless draw with Arsenal at the Britannia Stadium.

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has claimed that a draw was a fair result from his side's Premier League clash with Arsenal at the Britannia Stadium this afternoon.

Both goalkeepers were forced into making important stops to keep the opposition at bay, with Jack Butland denying Olivier Giroud in the first half and Petr Cech being called into action on a few occasions after the break.

Ultimately neither side could find a breakthrough in the goalless draw, but Hughes insists that he is "pleased" with the result and his side's performance.

"It was a game between evenly matched sides. Both teams approached the game in the right manner and created chances. All-in-all we're pleased. It shows our progress. Teams have found it difficult to get points here," he told BBC Sport.

"We are showing everyone we have belief in our ability. There was a period where Arsenal had some play around the box without creating too much. It was a similar story at the other end.

"It was a competitive game. At times, there were good opportunities to put the ball in the box and so the only criticism I would have is that we were reluctant to do that."

Arsenal have still only ever won one match at the Britannia Stadium in the Premier League.
