Freddie Ljungberg lined up as future replacement for Arsenal boss Unai Emery?

Freddie Ljungberg is allegedly in contention to replace Unai Emery should Arsenal choose to part ways with their first-team manager.

Arsenal will reportedly consider Freddie Ljungberg as a replacement for Unai Emery should results not improve in the long term.

While Arsenal currently sit in third position in the Premier League table, having lost just one match in eight fixtures, Emery remains under pressure to secure a top-four spot at the end of the season.

Despite the Spaniard's position not being under any immediate threat, The Athletic suggests that assistant manager Ljungberg may be promoted into the senior managerial role if that objective is not achieved.

The Swede has played a pivotal role in aiding the development of several of the club's academy graduates who are making an impression in the senior ranks.

Ljungberg is yet to manage a first-team squad, although the former midfielder is said to be keen to take on more responsibility in the future.
