Everton manager Ronald Koeman says that he was "not surprised" to hear Arsene Wenger criticise referee Mark Clattenburg after the Toffees' 2-1 win on Tuesday night.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman has mocked Arsene Wenger's criticism of referee Mark Clattenburg after the Toffees recorded a 2-1 win over Arsenal on Tuesday night.

With the game locked at 1-1 during the closing stages, a corner was awarded to the home side despite the ball appearing to come off forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin rather than Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny.

The decision led to Ashley Williams scoring Everton's winning goal, and after the game, Wenger said that he had been left disappointed with Clattenburg.

However, Koeman hit back at his opposite number by suggesting that Wenger is yet to graciously accept defeat on the three occasions he has gotten the better of him.

The 53-year-old told reporters: "I'm not surprised because it's the third [home game] in a row I won against Arsenal and three times in a row it was about the referee.

"I'm sorry Arsenal, we won through the referee."

The win for Everton has lifted them into seventh place in the Premier League table.
