Injured Mathieu Debuchy backs Calum Chambers to succeed

Mathieu Debuchy backs teammate Calum Chambers to replace him in defence after picking up an ankle injury.

Mathieu Debuchy has backed his Arsenal teammate Calum Chambers to replace him during his lengthy absence with an ankle injury.

Debuchy fell awkwardly during Arsenal's 2-2 draw with Manchester City on Saturday, and Chambers has been tipped to replace the former Newcastle United defender.

Debuchy told reporters: "Calum is a very good player, he is very young and has a great potential.

"He proved himself since the beginning of the season, when he performed very well."

Chambers, 19, arrived at the Emirates following a £16m move from Southampton in the summer.
