Chris Coleman: 'Aaron Ramsey not fazed by criticism'

Wales manager Chris Coleman insists that Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey is not concerned by criticism of his recent performances.

Chris Coleman has said that Aaron Ramsey is tough enough to handle the criticism that has been aimed at him in recent weeks.

The Arsenal midfielder's performance during the club's 3-3 draw with Anderlecht in the Champions League earlier this week has come in for criticism, while manager Arsene Wenger has urged him to "help the team".

However, the Wales boss told Wales Online: "He's the type of player that when it comes off it looks great. He can hit an incredible pass through the eye of a needle or take players on, but if it doesn't come off then sometimes people can look at it and say well, 'he is being flippant'.

"But he has the ability to produce a bit of magic and you want him to try it. Pundits can say what they want, even if you remember what they were like as a player, and you give an honest opinion, but Aaron is not a big-time Charlie. But it won't bother him, he's a tough boy. When people say to me, 'Who was the toughest players you played with?' I always think of players who are tough mentally.

"Players who always take responsibility whether they are playing good or bad. It's easy to be physically tough. But to always want the ball and take responsibility, that's toughness. Rambo has that in abundance."

Ramsey is in Coleman's Wales squad for the side's upcoming Euro 2016 qualifier against Belgium.
