Andrey Arshavin unimpressed with Arsenal's "theatre"

Andrey Arshavin criticises Arsenal fans for failing to create a supportive atmosphere at the Emirates Stadium, claiming that their lack of vocal support can nullify home advantage.

Russian midfielder Andrey Arshavin has criticised Arsenal fans for failing to create a supportive atmosphere at the Emirates Stadium.

The 32-year-old, who now plays for Zenit St Petersburg after ending his four-year stay in North London in June, claims that the lack of vocal support for the Gunners often nullifies their home advantage.

He told The Sun: "It felt like the crowd was at the theatre - good seats, expensive tickets and they wanted to see a show, not to support the team.

"It was like there was no advantage in playing at home.

"Many of the players - the leaders that were left from the club's time at Highbury - often complained that the atmosphere in the stands was so bad."

Arsenal have lost their last two games on home soil, allowing Borussia Dortmund and Chelsea to pick up victories in the Champions League and League Cup respectively.
