Arsenal board to back Arsene Wenger with £70m?

Reports suggest that Arsenal's board will back Arsene Wenger with £70m to spend in the summer.

The Arsenal board will reportedly show their backing for manager Arsene Wenger by entrusting him with £70m to alter the team's fortunes next season.

The Frenchman has come under pressure recently as the Gunners' wait for a trophy looks likely to stretch into an eighth season.

Fans were left frustrated following an FA Cup exit at the hands of Blackburn Rovers on Saturday, before Wednesday's defeat to Bayern Munich added to their misery.

The North London club are also in a battle to qualify for Champions League football next season and lie fifth in the table.

Some have now questioned Wenger's long-term future at Arsenal, but The Mirror suggests that 63-year-old will be offered the full support of the Emirates hierarchy at a meeting later today.
