Arsenal announce Scandinavian friendlies

Arsenal announce that they will play two friendlies in Scandinavia in August, including a game against Manchester City.

Arsenal have announced that they will play two friendlies in Scandinavia as part of their 2016-17 pre-season plans.

The Gunners will first travel to Tippeligaen side Viking FK in Stavanger on Friday, August 5 in what will be their first fixture in Norway in 12 years.

Premier League opposition will be next on the agenda when they take on Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in Gothenburg, Sweden on Sunday, August 7.

"Pre-season is a very important time for the team and our trips to the United States and then Scandinavia give us a good mixture of games to get ready for the new campaign," said Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

"On a personal note, I am happy that we are returning to Norway and Sweden for the first time in a while because we have some fantastic support in both countries. Many supporters travel all the way to London to watch us play so it will be good to be able come to them this time and hopefully put in two good performances."

Arsenal's pre-season will begin in the USA in July with matches against an MLS All-Star team and Mexican side Chivas de Guadalajara.
