Sam Allardyce is confident that striker Marouane Chamakh will prove to be a valuable asset for West Ham United in the second half of the season.

West Ham United manager Sam Allardyce is confident that Marouane Chamakh will prove himself in the Premier League.

The 28-year-old Morocco international striker joined the Hammers on loan from Arsenal last week for the rest of the season.

"He's itching and hungry to get back and show what he can do," The Express quotes Allardyce as saying.

"We'll give him the platform and hopefully he grabs the chance to show everybody that he's capable of playing on a regular basis in the Premier League."

Chamakh joined Arsenal from Bordeaux in 2010.
