Arsene Wenger: 'Bayern Munich will fear Arsenal'

Arsene Wenger claims that the prospect of facing Arsenal in the last-16 stage of the Champions League will worry Pep Guardiola's Bayern Munich side.

Arsene Wenger has claimed that Bayern Munich will be fearing the prospect of facing Arsenal in the last-16 stage of the Champions League.

The Gunners were paired with the German giants in the second round of Europe's elite competition for the second year in succession, with Jupp Heynckes's men emerging as narrow winners on away goals last season en route to the title.

Bayern defender Jerome Boateng recently claimed that Arsenal were the toughest possible draw for his team, and Wenger believes that his side's recent history with formidable opponents in the competition will unnerve the defending champions.

Asked whether or not Pep Guardiola's side will fear Arsenal, Wenger replied: "Certainly yes," he told the club's official website.

"If you look at the last five years we've had Barcelona twice, once Milan, and twice Bayern. So no-one can say we are advantaged by the draw."

The Premier League outfit welcome Guardiola's men to North London on February 19, before travelling to Munich for the second leg three weeks later.
