Tuesday's Arsenal transfer talk news roundup: Emiliano Martinez, Bernd Leno, Mounir Chouiar

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest transfer talk for Arsenal on Tuesday, September 15.

The summer transfer window has now begun, with rumours and speculation continuing to swirl as Arsenal eye possible reinforcements.

The Gunners spent more than many expected last summer - most notably their club-record purchase of Nicolas Pepe - but were more reserved in January as they focused on bolstering their defensive options.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings at the Emirates Stadium.

Tuesday morning's Arsenal transfer talk news roundup:

Dijon goalkeeper Runar Alex Runarsson has reportedly emerged as a transfer target for Arsenal.

With Emiliano Martinez on the brink of joining Aston Villa in a £16m deal, Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is in the market for a replacement.

Throughout last week, the Premier League giants were linked with an approach for David Raya, who may be allowed to leave Brentford for the right price.

However, the Daily Mail claims that Arsenal have made contact with Dijon regarding the availability of Iceland international Runarsson.

The 25-year-old, who has made 36 appearances in Ligue 1 since 2018, was an unused substitute for his nation's recent fixtures against England and Belgium.

Runarsson has less than two years left on his contract, a factor which could leave Arsenal regarding him as a cheaper alternative to Raya.

Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez 'agrees to join Aston Villa'

Aston Villa have reportedly moved a step closer to signing Arsenal goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez.

Despite having starred for the Gunners since the middle of June, it was not enough for Martinez to remain ahead of Bernd Leno in the pecking order.

That has led to widespread interest in his signature, including from Aston Villa, who have been keen to bring in a new number one this summer.

With Villa having already agreed to spend in the region of £16m on the Argentine, the Daily Mail claims that Martinez is happy to proceed with the move.

The report claims that the 28-year-old is willing to pen a contract until the end of the 2023-24 campaign.

Although the injured Tom Heaton remains at Villa Park, Martinez has allegedly been told that he will be first choice by manager Dean Smith.
