Bacary Sagna backs Arsenal teammate Gervinho to recover from his penalty miss for the Ivory Coast last night.

Bacary Sagna has backed his Arsenal teammate Gervinho to recover from his miss in the final of the Africa Cup of Nations penalty shoot-out yesterday evening.

The Ivorian sent his effort wide of the target, presenting Stophira Sunzu with the chance to win the trophy for Zambia, which he took.

However, Sagna believes that the experience will make Gervinho a "stronger" person.

"Gervinho was probably the best on the pitch yesterday..that miss will make him stronger," full-back Sagna wrote on Twitter.

Gervinho could make his return for the Gunners during next weekend's FA Cup tie with Sunderland.
