League Two roundup: Trio fail to capitalise on Oxford United draw

Oxford United remain top of the League Two table despite being held to a 0-0 draw at home to Newport County, as Chesterfield, Fleetwood Town and Rochdale all fail to win.

Oxford United remained top of the League Two table on Tuesday night despite being held to a 0-0 draw at home to Newport County.

Chesterfield, Fleetwood Town and Rochdale all missed the chance to replace Oxford at the top of the tree.

The Spireites were involved in a goalless draw with relegation battlers Northampton Town, while Fleetwood lost 2-0 at Accrington Stanley.

Rochdale endured a torrid evening, as defenders Oliver Lancashire and Jack O'Connell were both sent off during a 4-0 home defeat to Scunthorpe United.

Elsewhere, Exeter City's run of five consecutive defeats came to an end as Alan Gow netted an 81st-minute equaliser to earn a 1-1 draw at Wycombe Wanderers.

Southend United came from behind with 10 men to win 2-1 at Portsmouth in a match that was delayed due to an accident on the A3.

The Devon derby ended all square between Torquay United and Plymouth Argyle, as Reuben Reid's ninth-minute penalty cancelled out Elliot Benyon's opener.

Billy Kee scored his first goal since October as Burton Albion won 1-0 at home to Mansfield Town. Bury were victorious by the same scoreline against Hartlepool United at Gigg Lane.

AFC Wimbledon drew 1-1 with Dagenham & Redbridge at Kingsmeadow, while there were no goals in the games involving Cheltenham Town, Bristol Rovers, Morecambe and York City.
