AC Milan manager Massimiliano Allegri has said that his side's 3-0 win over Palmero gave them an "important" three points.
Goals after the break from Antonio Cassano and Robinho added to Antonio Nocerino's first-half strike in what was a dominant Milan win at the San Siro.
Despite his side's slow start to the season, the Italian insists his side can now kick on.
"Tonight was an important game," he is quoted as saying in La Gazzetta dello Sport. "My players understood that the five points [we had accumulated] in the standings were too few and so had to start winning.
"Forgetting about the results of our rivals, it was important to get back to winning convincingly and now we must catch up as many points as possible to cancel out the difference between us and the sides at the top.
"The three points will allow us to climb the rankings, but only slowly as the season is long. We must continue like this."
Milan are sat in 11th place in Serie A, three points behind leaders Juventus, who have a game in hand.
