Philippe Mexes has urged AC Milan that they must not settle for anything less than the Champions League.
The Serie A giants have slumped in recent years after failing to qualify for any European competition in previous seasons, as Sinisa Mihajlovic's side finished in 10th place last season.
The French defender is voicing his irritation at the club's poor form over the past couple of years, as he looks to put the Rossoneri back in contention for a place in Europe's elite footballing competition.
"It's frustrating. And it's frustrating because Milan should be in the Champions League every year," Mexes told FIFA.com.
"We need to get back up to the highest level. I hope we can make it and that there'll be another Milan player collecting the Ballon d'Or again before too long.
"That would mean we'd have the best player in the world at the club."
Milan are currently seventh in Serie A.
