Dominic Ball urges Aberdeen to kick on after Rangers win

The Dons are back in the top six.

Aberdeen midfielder Dominic Ball believes their short stay in Glasgow can prove the catalyst to a successful campaign.

The Dons bounced back from Sunday's narrow Betfred Cup final defeat by Celtic to knock Rangers off the top of the Ladbrokes Premiership on Wednesday.

Scott McKenna netted early on and despite going down to 10 men when Sam Cosgrove was sent off, the Dons held on to move back into the top six, seven points off leaders Kilmarnock.

Ball told RedTV: "It was unbelievable. Considering the disappointment of Sunday against Celtic to come away from home and win like that was just unbelievable.

"We had a plan coming here and after Sam gets sent off it does make it a lot tougher, but it just shows the character that we have and the defensive ability we have at this club.

"It's everyone doing their job and we all done it.

"The biggest thing was having lost on Sunday in a final where I thought we could have got more from the game and three days later to come to Ibrox and put in that sort of shift is credit to every single one of the lads in there.

"Sunday's game is a catalyst for a change in the season for all of us.

"We were so close and put in a great performance and with so many games coming up we hope to keep that consistency of playing really well and hopefully we can do that for the rest of the month."
