Great Britain's Sophie Wells "thrilled" with horse after missing out on gold

Sophie Wells says that some of her "risks" didn't pay off after narrowly missing out on a gold medal for Great Britain in Grade IV of the individual freestyle dressage.

Great Britain's Paralympic rider Sophie Wells has paid tribute to her horse Pinocchio after narrowly missing out on a gold medal in the Grade IV individual freestyle dressage event.

The Brit, who won silver in the individual championship on Sunday, came second to Belgium's Michele George.

"I had to take some risks today to have a chance of beating Michele," The Telegraph. "Some of the risks paid off, some of them maybe didn't, but I am absolutely thrilled with my horse. He has coped like a star with the atmosphere."

Meanwhile, Great Britain have another chance to clinch a medal at Greenwich Park as Deborah Criddle prepares to compete in Grade III this afternoon.
