Watch: Last Week Tonight with John Oliver sets return date

The new season of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver will begin on February 14.

The new season of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver will begin in the US on Sunday, February 14, it has been announced.

In the UK, the satirical current affairs show airs on a one-day delay, meaning that it will premiere on the Sky Comedy channel on Monday, February 15.

Since the show went off air for its annual end-of-year break in November, Joe Biden has been certified as the next President, US coronavirus deaths have surged to new highs and a group of Donald Trump supporters stormed the Capitol Building in one of the darkest days in modern US history.

Announcing the return date, the show's official Twitter account noted: "Well, a thing or two has happened since we've been away, but we'll be back soon! See you on February 14th."
