Neve Campbell reveals talks for Scream 5

Neve Campbell reveals that she is in talks about taking a role in the fifth movie in the Scream franchise.

Neve Campbell has revealed that she is "having conversations" about reprising her role as Sidney Prescott for a new installment of the Scream franchise.

The iconic slasher series originally ran as a trilogy from 1996 to 2000 before returning for a new movie in 2011 in what was to be the final film of horror director Wes Craven's career.

Late last year it emerged that Spyglass Entertainment - taking over from the Weinstein Company - is developing a fifth film, and now Campbell has admitted that she will hopefully be involved.

"They've come to me and we're having conversations," Campbell told YouTube interviewer Jake Hamilton. "It's a little hard at the moment because of COVID to know when that'll happen and hopefully we can see eye to eye on all the elements that have to come into place for it to happen.

"I originally had been really apprehensive about doing another Scream without Wes because he was such a genius and he is the reason they are what they are but the directors have come to me with such a great appreciation for Wes's work and they really want to honour it and that meant a lot to me. Hopefully we'll be able to do it."

Other potential returnees include Courteney Cox as journalist and writer Gale Weathers and David Arquette as bumbling police officer Dewey Riley.
