Greg Daniels suggests The Office reunion unlikely

Greg Daniels, executive producer of The Office, suggests that a reunion is unlikely any time soon.

The Office's executive producer Greg Daniels has hinted that the show is unlikely to return any time soon.

The comedy ran for nine seasons on NBC, ending in 2013 after 201 episodes, and in the last few years has enjoyed a fresh surge in popularity via streaming services.

Multiple reports have suggested that the show could return for a reunion special, a new season or complete reboot with a new cast, but Daniels is doubtful.

"I love doing The Office more than anything and if we were going to revisit it, I would want to do it," he told The Hollywood Reporter.

"I think when all these [revival] rumours started to fly around, it was when they rebooted Will & Grace, and I think people were assuming that an Office reboot would be pretty much like that – it would be getting the entire cast back together and just continuing where we left off.

"But you know, I went back to run the show in season nine after discussing it with the main cast and part of our idea was we were gonna wrap it up, you know, we were gonna write towards the finale and have an ending, and so a lot of the characters left the office and we went forward by a year, we found out where everybody was."

John Krasinski - Jim Halpert in the show - has recently said that he would "absolutely love" to be part of any future reunion.
