BBC to make move for Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford?

The BBC is reportedly planning to move for Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford after their impending demotion on This Morning.

The BBC is reportedly planning to approach Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford for a hosting role following their demotion on This Morning.

The husband-and-wife team have presented the Friday edition of the show together since 2006 but earlier this month it emerged that ITV is planning to replace them with the new pairing of Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary.

Although ITV has yet to officially confirm the plans, it is thought that Holmes and Langford would remain part of the This Morning team, instead serving as the chief back-up presenters for Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby during school holidays.

According to The Sun, however, the BBC is looking to make a move for the couple with an offer to host an as-yet undecided format.

"Eamonn and Ruth have a huge fanbase and are very experienced," a source told the newspaper.

"They can easily carry any number of shows, so producers at the Beeb are considering handing them a format to front."

Several days ago O'Leary broke his silence on the rumours, saying that he is 'hopeful' of getting a role on the show.
