Matthew Vaughn keen to "get on with" Kingsman 3

Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn says that he is keen to get going with the third movie in the trilogy.

Kingsman director Matthew Vaughn has revealed his plans for the future of the franchise, admitting that he needs to "get on with" a new sequel.

The action-comedy movies star Taron Egerton and Colin Firth as members of a clandestine spy organisation called Kingsman which is tasked with preventing global disasters.

The first two films - 2015's The Secret Service and 2017's The Golden Circle - were a huge success, earning more than £630 million between them at the global box office.

A prequel movie, The King's Man, is due for release next month, but Vaughn is already hard at work on the final film of the trilogy, tentatively titled The Blue Blood.

"We need to make it, because I don't want Colin in a Zimmer frame, or Eggsy with nappies," he told Empire. "So we need to get on with it.

"We've put seeds for what's going to happen in Kingsman 3 all the way back into [the prequel] - and it's going to be very different."

On the franchise's long-term future, he added: "I want Kingsman to be around for a long time. What I want it to be is, whatever angle we take, you may hate it, you may love it, but you won't be bored."

The King's Man is due for release on September 18.
