Ross Kemp, Pam St Clement pay tribute to Dame Barbara Windsor

EastEnders icons Ross Kemp and Pam St Clement pay tribute to Dame Barbara Windsor following her death at the age of 83.

Former EastEnders stars Ross Kemp and Pam St Clement have paid emotional tributes to Dame Barbara Windsor following her death on Thursday.

The actress, who played Walford matriarch Peggy Mitchell for more than two decades, passed away at the age of 83 following a long battle with Alzheimer's.

Both Kemp, aka Peggy's son Grant, and St Clement - Peggy's frenemy Pat Butcher - remained good friends with Windsor away from the soap, and earlier this year Kemp hosted a documentary about Windsor's condition which featured contributions from her doting husband Scott Mitchell.

Posting on Instagram, Kemp wrote: "Dame Barbara Windsor, the woman who always had time for everybody, has sadly left us. I will miss Bar always.

"My thoughts are with her husband Scott, who could have done no more and who stayed strong for her to the very end‬."

Appearing on This Morning today, St Clement revealed her sadness at not being able to visit Windsor since she was moved into a care home earlier this year.

"Nobody could go and visit her, I mean with the lockdowns and everything, it was impossible," she said.

"Which is sad, in a sense, because it means I haven't seen her for nearly a year, and that is a sadness to me."
