Coronation Street star reveals partial blindness

Coronation Street star Lisa George, aka Beth Sutherland, reveals that a stroke four years ago left her with partial blindness.

Coronation Street star Lisa George has revealed that she has been partially blind in one eye for the last four years.

The 50-year-old, who plays Kirk's wife Beth Sutherland, suffered a mini-stroke that caused lasting damage to her vision.

"I haemorrhaged behind my optic nerve four years ago and I'm half-blind in my right eye," she told the Daily Star.

"They said it was like a stroke but also I got hit in the eye with a bit of rope.

"They think I'd had some mini-stroke but a specialist said it has to be the rope, I still don't know."

Due to her condition, George has only made a few appearances on Corrie since the coronavirus pandemic began and is now not due to return to filming until next year.
