Peter Wright solidifies his recent improved form with victory at the Czech Darts Open, seeing off Dave Chisnall in the final.

Peter Wright has secured his first Euro Tour title since October with victory at the Czech Darts Open.

The Scot has endured an indifferent start to 2023, notably sitting at the bottom of the Premier League table, and also putting himself at risk of soon falling down the PDC Order Of Merit.

However, the 53-year-old has put together his best results of the season in Prague, concluding an impressive run with an 8-6 win over Dave Chisnall in the final.

After gaining an early break of throw, Wright was never behind, although there was drama as he tried to close the contest in the 13th leg.

The veteran missed five championship darts, allowing Chisnall to capitalise, but Wright kept his compose to take the next leg, ending with a 95.68 average.

Earlier in the day, Wright posted victories over Danny Noppert, Luke Humphries and Damon Heta, and his success has seen him replace Michael van Gerwen at second in the PDC Order of Merit.

Van Gerwen had earlier suffered a 6-4 defeat to Rob Cross in the quarter-finals, Cross then losing to Chisnall in their last-four contest.

Chsinall moves up one spot to 12th in the world rankings, while Heta's reward for a last-four appearance is progressing up to 15th place.
