Peter Wright prepared for Premier League

World number five Peter Wright admits that the upheaval of playing in last year's Premier League came as a surprise to him.

Peter Wright believes that his first experience of the Premier League will benefit him ahead of the start of this year's edition.

After being handed a wildcard after his run to the World Championship final in 2014, Wright impressed during the 10-man league, but the Scottish thrower has admitted that the schedule had an impact on his performances in competitive action.

The 44-year-old told the Daily Record: "I wanted more from 2014 but I had to look at the reasons behind the year I had. For example, I never realised what it would be like to be pulled around like a rag doll.

"Playing in the Premier League was an eye-opener on that score as well as doing more events abroad. That was all new for me. Heading for early flights, getting up at silly times, travelling for hours, it's all a factor.

"I'm prepared for it all so much better now. I've planned my entire year already. The flights are booked, the hotels are sorted, I know what's going on and I'll make sure I get the right rest time."

Wright will face Dave Chisnall in the opening match of the tournament in Leeds next Thursday.
